Attention WSCA Members: The WSCA Board and Committees are moving ahead on many new and exciting projects and need your help. We are looking for volunteers to serve on different committees to develop these projects and provide assistance where needed. Please look over the following opportunities and decide if there is an area you would be interested in helping.

Education and Professional Development Committee
Areas where you could help out:

  1. WSCA’s Summer Academy or Fall Summit--be at the forefront of school counselor training in the state.  Help plan for future training events or help the day of the event.
  2. Statewide training--help WSCA reach every corner of the state by partnering with local CESAs.  We are looking to develop a “one stop shop” of training information on the WSCA website that includes CESA counselor trainings, Counselor Level trainings, and other applicable events.  You can help by contacting your local and area CESAs and providing the committee with this information.
  3. WSCPAR Sub Committee--help school counselors learn more about the WSCPAR accountability tool and how it can benefit their program and students.  Work with the team to manage the WSCPAR process, including application review.

If you are interested in working in any of these areas or have any new ideas please contact committee chair Paula Haugle at hauglep@elmwood.k12.wi.us .

Government Relations Committee
Areas where you could help out:

  1. Ad Hoc Committee: Partnership building
WSCA is looking to continue building an “offensive” relationship with our state legislators. As we recruit participation for Day on the Hill during the pre-conference, the next step is to build more connections for our profession.  This committee will look at building connections with key state organizations and agencies; creating partnerships for school counselors.  Please join us as a committee member as we look to building our profession.

If you are interested in working in this area or have any new ideas please contact committee chair Nate Rice at ricen@wawm.k12.wi.us

Professional Recognition and Scholarship Committee
Areas where you can help out:

  1. Be a reader for the high school and graduate student scholarships, as well as for the professional recognition awards that WSCA gives out each year. The readings are done in November and December.
  2. Compile an electronic database of all school districts in the state so that scholarship information can be sent out electronically to each school district in the state.

If you are interested in helping with any of these projects or if you have any ideas about projects this committee can take on, please contact Kaila Rabideau at kaila.rabideau@gmail.com

Public Relations Committee
Areas where you can help out:

  1. Help promote School Counselor Week
  2. Develop promotional material for members to use that will promote school counselors and the vital role they play in students' lives
  3. Share work being done around state by WSCA members

If you are interested in helping with any of these projects or if you have any ideas about projects this committee can take on, please contact Lisa Koenecke at lisa.koenecke@gmail.com
