WSCA Annual Conference
February 24-26, 2010
Ramada Stevens Point Hotel
Stevens Point, WI
“School Counselors: Focused on LEARNING!”
 |
Michael Morgan,
WSCA 2009-2010 President |
On behalf of the Wisconsin School Counselor Association Board I want to extend a warm invitation for you to attend this year’s WSCA Conference. As Professional School Counselors we are joining together for this educational opportunity to reenergize, network and most importantly to learn. We will learn from each other, from the many experts who present for us, and all the shared knowledge united at the finest Professional School Counselor Conference in the Nation.
All year we are dedicated to bringing the best of ourselves to school each day. To make sure that our young people are getting the most out of the high quality education our schools provide. Like our students, you can take advantage of this high quality educational opportunity at our conference. School Counselors from Wisconsin, and many others from around the United States, will join together to learn new, and some not so new, ways of being all we can be in the education of our youth. We will continue to capitalize on the ASCA National Model and the Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model to make sure that our efforts in our schools show, with quality data, that what we do makes a difference in the achievement of all students.
As it has for so many years, this years WSCA Conference promises to be outstanding. The conference committee works many, many tireless hours to bring the best to you. All we ask of you in return is the same thing you ask of your students, “make the most of your learning opportunities”. Take a few days to join together keeping your focus on learning, and do all you can to find a balance between relaxing, reenergizing, and networking during all the great sectionals, speakers, and exhibitors joined together with One Vision, One Voice in Stevens Point for you!
Michael Morgen
President 2009 - 2010
Wisconsin School Counselor Association
The WSCA Conference supports the following Wisconsin Pupil Service Professional, Teacher, and Administrator Standards:
- Pupil Services Professional Standards – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7
- Teacher Standards – 2, 3, and 8
- Administrator Standards – 1, 3, and 5
NBCC Contact hours will be awarded for school and licensed professional counselors.
In response to concerns expressed at last year’s WSCA Conference, the conference committee has been working with the management of the Ramada Hotel to provide dining options during the conference. We are excited to announce that there will be a separate dining room open for dinner on Wednesday, February 24th and Thursday, February 25th. There will be a separate wait staff and an excellent menu with a variety of choices. The dining room area will be located in the former restaurant area called Traditions.
The Afterglow will once again hold up its tradition of being enormously funny and entertaining. If you like to laugh out loud and enjoy having a good time, then don’t miss out on the clean comedy at the Afterglow on Thursday evening. Hope to see you there!

CaringBridge(r) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, free web service that connects family and friends during a critical illness, treatment or recovery. A CaringBridge website is personal, private and available 24/7. In 1997, founder Sona Mehring's close friend suffered a life-threatening pregnancy.
To keep family and friends informed about the critical situation, Sona and
friends created a website. The site allowed family members to
communicate information to a wide circle of people without disturbing their friend's needs for rest or placing additional demands on hospital staff.
A personal CaringBridge website helps ease the burden of keeping family and friends informed. Patients and caregivers draw strength from loved ones' messages of support. For many CaringBridge users, the love and
support of a CaringBridge community means the difference between hope and discouragement. That's the power of CaringBridge. It brings people and communities together. Currently, more than 30 million people have visited CaringBridge.org in the last 12 months and more than 155,000 personal sites have been created. Each day, over half-a-million people connect
through CaringBridge and currently nearly 1 billion visits have been made to personal CaringBridge websites. The CaringBridge community includes authors, visitors and/or donors in all 50 states and more than 215 countries/territories around the world.
Your gift today supports the mission of CaringBridge: to bring together a global community of care, powered by the love of family and friends, in an easy, accessible and private way. While funds are not provided directly to families, your gift helps those using the free service stay connected while they heal. Your gift makes a difference in the lives of CaringBridge users worldwide. We are asking attendees to make cash donations or checks to CaringBridge. It is a simple way to help others. Look for the donation boxes at the registration table, the opening ceremony and Friday's President's Brunch. Checks should be made payable to CaringBridge.
