Attention WSCA Members: The WSCA Board and Committees are moving
ahead on many new and exciting projects and need your help. We are
looking for volunteers to serve on different committees to develop
these projects and provide assistance where needed. Please
look over the following opportunities and decide if there is an
area you would be interested in helping.
Education and Professional Development Committee
Areas where you could help out:
- WSCA's Summer Leadership Academy--help to plan for future academy's including setting up the speakers, logistics for the day, academy registration and
- WSCA's new Fall Summit--get in on the ground floor with a new WSCA
endeavor. Help to develop ideas for what the Fall Summit
should look like, when and where the summit should be held
and what its focus should be.
- Building relationships with local CESA's--work with a team to see how WSCA can provide more trainings and services to counselors through our CESA's.
If you are interested in working in any of these areas or
have any new ideas please contact committee chair Rod Wiemeri at
rodw@charter.net
or at
715-637-5812.
Government Relations Committee
Areas where you could help out:
- Ad Hoc Committee: Lobbyist
As the makeup of the state legislator has
made some dramatic changes, WSCA is looking
to build a more “offensive” relationship
with our state legislators. As
changes are happening we are pursuing
the possibility of a lobbyist to help
WSCA be up-to-date and appraised of the
legislative issues affecting school counselors
in our state. Please join us as
a committee member as we look to building
our profession.
If you are interested in working in
this area or
have any new ideas please contact committee
chair Gary Campbell at
Gary.Campbell@rfsd.k12.wi.us
or at
715.425.1820.
Professional Recognition and Scholarship Committee
Areas where you can help out:
- Be a reader for the high school and graduate student scholarships,
as well as for the professional recognition awards that WSCA gives
out each year. The readings are done in December and January.
- Compile an electronic database of all school districts in the
state so that scholarship information can be sent out electronically
to each school district in the state.
If you are interested in helping with any of these projects or
if you have any ideas about projects this committee can take on,
please contact Andrew Stendahl at adstendahl@wisc.edu
or at (608) 695-5786.
Publications and Advocacy Committee
Areas where you can help out:
- Help promote School Counselor Week
- Develop promotional material for members to use that will promote school counselors and the vital role they play in students' lives
- Share work being done around state by WSCA members
If you are interested in helping with any of these projects or
if you have any ideas about projects this committee can take on,
please contact Linda Luedtke at lindaluedtke@lakefield.net
