4th Annual Summer Leadership Academy
University of Wisconsin - River Falls
Looking Outside the Box:
Developing Leadership and Advocacy Skills to Create Change
Thursday, August 5th, 2010--9:00-4:00
The Summer Leadership Academy is
focused on providing opportunities for counselors to look at the
aspects of the Wisconsin and National models that surround the four
core components --Foundation, Delivery System, Management and Accountability.
The Academy is designed to develop counselors' Leadership, Advocacy,
and Collaboration skills to lead to Systemic Change.
This year's Leadership Academy
participants will walk away with skills to:
" Create school cultures that
enhance student learning and job satisfaction to "Eliminate
Negative Mental Habits."
" Become leaders and advocates in their schools and at the
state level to "Break Out of the Comfort Zone."
" Develop positive views on life and help to create positive
attitudes in both students and staff to learn to "Live Above
the Line."
" Understand the hidden agenda in all that they do to develop-Star
Qualities."
This year's academy will be presented by a dedicated, high-energy
team of professional educators engaging you in "wow" insights
and providing practical tools for making a difference.
Paul Bernabei directs Top 20 Training and has been
leading the initiative to transform American education and bring
Top 20 to schools around the world. Paul travels the U.S. presenting
Top 20 Training seminars. He has been an educator in Twin Cities
schools for over 30 years, has conducted hundreds of retreats for
youth and adults, and directs Share-a-Life, a program that provides
housing and support for pregnant women in crisis. A graduate of
St. John's University and the University of St. Thomas, Paul and
his wife Paula, a kindergarten teacher, have four daughters and
eight grandchildren. They live in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Willow Sweeney facilitates Top 20 Training seminars
throughout the U.S. She specializes in communication and relationship
topics. For eight years Willow taught social studies at Cretin-Derham
Hall High School. Her classes included world cultures and social
justice. Willow co-taught T.L.C. with Tom Cody and helped develop
the curriculum of the Top 20 Class for the next 5 years. Her exceptional
ability to build instant rapport with people has helped make Top
20 Training relevant to their lives. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin,
and a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, Willow, her husband
Brian and their two sons now reside in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Welcome given by:
Doug White, Director of Student services/Prevention
and Wellness will be kicking off the day on behalf of State Superintendent,
Tony Evers. Doug will share the vision Superintendent Evers has
for school counselors in the state of Wisconsin and how we can take
an active role in advocating for ourselves at the state level.
GRADUATE CREDIT INFORMATION:
One Graduate credit will be offered through the Concordia University.
