Next Steps in Implementing a Model Program

If you are looking to put momentum and energy into your school counseling program through the use of the Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model and the ASCA Model than this years WSCA Summer Academy is the place to start.
Academy Participants will come away:
• with a better understanding of the Wisconsin and National Models for school counseling programs
• written action plans designed on your school data
• a higher level of skill in working with data
• management agreement ideas
• Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) process
• next steps for your program
This years Academy will be presented by Eric Sparks who is Past-President of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and has helped school counselors around the country develop comprehensive school counseling programs. He is also Director of School Counseling for the Wake County Public School System (North Carolina) where he works with approximately 350 school counselors serving 138,000 students. As an advocate for school counseling, Sparks has presented school counseling issues to state legislators, school board members, administrators, teachers, school counselors, parents and students.
He has facilitated district-wide implementation of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model for School Counseling in the Wake County Public School System, where 25 schools have been nationally recognized with the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) award.
Sparks has also served the school counseling profession as President of the North Carolina School Counselor Association (NCSCA). NCSCA awarded Sparks the Ruth McSwain Distinguished Professional Service Award in 2006 and the NC Counselor Advocate of the Year Award in 2004. His work in school counseling has been published in journals and magazines, and he has presented at conferences at the state and national levels. Sparks is a former high school counselor and a graduate of North Carolina State University, earning his BA, M Ed., and Supervision Certification. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

(electronic version in an Excel spreadsheet is best).
• Lap top computer (1 per team/school).
GRADUATE CREDIT INFORMATION:
One Graduate credit will be offered through the University of St. Thomas.
