MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELORS


We are so glad you are visiting the WSCA website.  We hope to have available for you, resources lessons, and contact information that you can utilize in order to be the most effective counselor you can be!  Check back often for updates to our site and don’t hesitate to contact your WSCA Middle School VP’s if you have ideas for topics you would like to see covered. 
Middle School life can be exciting and challenging time for some students.  This is a developmental period where students are exploring their self-identity, discovering interests, and maturing into adolescence.  The middle school years are growing years.  It is a rewarding experience to be able to see the growth of students as they mature from a young child into a young adolescent.

Middle School Counselors help students achieve in their education by enhancing the learning process and promoting academic achievement.  Through a comprehensive counseling program counselors provide services that address emotional, social, personal and career planning.

Roles of a Middle School Counselor include:
Academic Support
Personal/Social/Emotional issues            
Career Education
Transitional planning from Elementary and into High School
Individual and small group counseling
Peer relationships
Conflict resolution
Crisis Intervention
Multicultural/Diversity Awareness
Coping Strategies
