Other Awards

These awards are meant to recognize other persons who go above and beyond to meet the personal, career, and academic needs of students and professionals within the State of Wisconsin.

A. Mary Gehrke-McAllister Leadership Award   
To recognize those persons who have provided outstanding leadership to the school counseling profession in Wisconsin.

B. Supervisor-Administrator Award
To recognize those persons who have made significant contributions to the field of school counseling.

C. Jerome Henning Legislator Award
To recognize those members of the legislature who have made significant contributions to the school counseling profession.

D. Secretarial / Support Staff Award   
To recognize those persons who support and enhance the work of the school counselor.

E. Friend of School Counseling Award 
To recognize those persons (e.g., parents, volunteers, other educators, etc.) who through leadership, acts, or support have made contributions to the school counseling profession.

F. Research and/or Professional Writing Award   
To recognize those persons who have contributed to the profession by conducting, publishing, or producing organized research in the field of school counseling, or who have made an outstanding contribution to the profession by writing for publication

G. NEW – Lifetime Achievement Award
The lifetime achievement award exemplifies the role of a school counselor as we define it in the profession. The school counselor selected is a professional leader, mentor, and tireless contributor to the lives of students, educators, and the community. Requirements: 15 years or more experience as a school counselor, WSCA member

H. NEW – Rising Star Award
The Rising Star Award recognizes a practicing school counselor with no more than 5 years of professional experience. The school counselor exemplifies excellence and dedication to serving the needs of students using an equity lens. The award winner is a model for new counselors demonstrating the highest standards of professional competence, outstanding contributions to the school community and/or profession, and has demonstrated strong rapport with students, parents, and school personnel. Requirements: 1-5 years experience as a school counselor, WSCA member

2) In what ways has this individual made a positive impact on school counselors and school counseling programs to help students be successful?
