School Counseling Programs Awards

*The individual counselor nominated, or at least one member of a team nominated, must be a member of WSCA to be eligible to win.*

A. School Counseling Team Award
To recognize a school counseling team that works together to go above and beyond to meet the personal, career, and academic needs of their students.

B. Lifetime Achievement Award
The lifetime achievement award exemplifies the role of a school counselor as we define it in the profession. The school counselor selected is a professional leader, mentor, and tireless contributor to the lives of students, educators, and the community.

Requirements: 15 years or more experience as a school counselor

C. Rising Star Award
The Rising Star Award recognizes a practicing school counselor with no more than 5 years of professional experience. The school counselor exemplifies excellence and dedication to serving the needs of students using an equity lens. The award winner is a model for new counselors demonstrating the highest standards of professional competence, outstanding contributions to the school community and/or profession, and has demonstrated strong rapport with students, parents, and school personnel.

Requirements: 1-5 years experience as a school counselor

Nomination Questions:

1) How does the school counseling program use advocacy, leadership, systemic change and collaboration to make a difference for all students? Please be specific and provide examples.

2) Describe how the counselor(s) have positively impacted student achievement in either the academic, social/emotional, or career domains. Please be specific, provide data or examples.
