It’s been a challenging week in the state of Wisconsin. We know the news of the school shooting in Madison has affected all of us, whether professionally or personally. Our work and efforts surrounding student mental health and trauma responsiveness make this news story hit close to home. As your professional organization, we at WSCA have wanted to find ways to help support you as you work to support your schools and students.
We are glad to have connected with our past conference keynote speaker, Molly Hudgens, to provide a virtual counselor support pop-up that we would love you to attend. In 2016, Molly talked a student with a loaded handgun out of committing a mass shooting at her middle school. Since then, she has dedicated her life to helping raise awareness around violence prevention and safety.
This pop-up event will be an open forum for you as school counselors to share your thoughts, feelings, and fears in a safe space with others who understand what you’re going through.
