CESA #3 located in Fennimore, WI supports the 31 school districts in six Southwest Wisconsin counties (Crawford, Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Richland,and Sauk) with its 42 employees.

Program Development with Guided Instruction
The Summit is an opportunity for school counselors to learn more about Academic and Career Plans (ACPs), school counseling curriculum development, and accountability through the SPARC-W and RAMP. Practicing school counselors present on each topic in the morning session. During our lunch time, we will be touring Southwest Technical College in one of three areas: agriculture & industry, business & management, or health & service. The afternoon session consists of work time where school counselors choose to address one of the three topics, developing a plan to incorporate it into their comprehensive school counseling programs.
Courses/Format:
Purpose
The primary goal of the Fall Summit is to have a hands-on learning experience, providing work time with guided instruction. We will be putting theory into practice while making our comprehensive programs come alive.
Focus
The focus of this learning community is for counselors to collaborate on several topics related to program development and work in small groups to share work and ideas.
Product Development
Counselors will be able to walk away with new curriculum or begin work on an Academic and Career Plan (ACP), the application process for the RAMP (Recognized ASCA National Model Program) or the SPARC-W (The Support Personnel Accountability Report Card for Wisconsin). Peer review and evaluation will improve product quality.
Fall Summit 2013 Choices
We will begin the day in one large group and then break into smaller learning communities. Selected topics are a result of our membership survey and the WSCA two-year work plan. Participants will choose between the following:
Option One: Curriculum Development
Participants will write curriculum for their content topic theme areas. They will use their district model or learn about the Backward Design model used by CESA #8. Participants will be able to submit their lessons to the CESA #8 clearinghouse after peer review and recommendations. Counselors will have an opportunity to exchange lessons to bring to their own school or district team.
Option Two: Accountability
Taking your program to the next level, counselors can show administrators, school board and the community their data and results. Evidenced-based programming resulting in student achievement underlies the accountability section of the ASCA National Model diamond and shows how counselors and comprehensive programs make a difference. Participants will be introduced to the RAMP (Recognized ASCA National Model Program) and SPARC-W (The Support Personnel Accountability Report Card for Wisconsin) and begin small group work in developing their application.
Option Three: Academic and Career Plans
An Academic Career Plan (ACP) is a dynamic, working, collaboratively-created document that allows students to capture the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to achieve academic, personal/social, and career goals. School counselors will have the chance to learn more about Academic & Career Plans (ACPs) and to begin developing a customized ACP for use in their districts.
Laptops Required: This workshop will be hands-on. Bring a flashdrive to share work.
Enrollment Limited: The workshop format necessitates a smaller working group.
