Each year, an outstanding group of school counselors and school counseling students help ensure an exceptional WSCA Annual Conference experience for attendees, while also getting an insider’s view of the event. The WSCA Annual Conference Champion Program trains a selective and enthusiastic group of volunteers to serve as room hosts, guides, helpers, and much more. And, perhaps best of all, WSCA covers the cost of conference champions’ registration and hotel.
If you’re chosen, you’ll attend an orientation prior to the conference, as well as receive detailed instructions on the day the event starts.
Your commitment includes:
- Available to work between the hours of:
- 8:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6th
- 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7th
- 7:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Friday, November 8th
- Be willing to work in various positions, including registration assistant, sectional host, WSCA booth attendant, directional guide, and more.
Note: You must be available to work all days. We are not able to select participants on a part-time basis.
What you receive:
- Conference registration reimbursement (for full conference only) – champions need to register and pay the registration fees prior to conference, and fees will be reimbursed after the event once participation has been completed
- Lunches on Wednesday – Friday
- Shared hotel room for three nights (checking in on Tuesday, November 6th, checking out on Friday, November 8th). If you choose not to share a room with another champion you can upgrade to a private room at a cost of approximately $75 per night, plus taxes. WSCA will make your hotel reservation.
- You will attend some sectionals as part of your hosting duties; however, there’s no guarantee that it will be any particular session. You will also have the opportunity to listen to the keynote speakers.
This is a critical role in the success of our annual conference, please do not sign up if you will not be able to commit to attending the conference, late and last minute notices that you are not available to fulfill your duties make it difficult to find a replacement and cause a hardship on other volunteers.
